NHS Confederation Salons
In order to broaden the scope of thinking available to health care managers Nigel Edwards, policy director of the NHS Confederation, used to host occasional day long meetings of a wide range of thinkers, in the form of a Salon.
Invited participants shared their own perspectives on a subject of interest to all, enabling both a fresh understanding of complex or intractable issues and also an introduction to fields of study of which other participants were unaware.
The meetings, of about 15 people, were held about three times a year and were usually convivial and entertaining as well as thought provoking and productive.
Valerie Iles designed and facilitated a number of these on Nigel’s behalf.
